In love With The Coco

So if you've been on Instagram and follow all these curly natural hair Queen's you have most definitely seen many of these coconut oil memes floating around. Most are super hilarious and the thirst for throwing coconut oil all over your whole life is REAL!

So when I was sent a box filled with Vita Coco Coconut Oil I discovered how life changing it really was and just about starting pouring it over my entire life! The Vita Coco tagline 'Eat It - Wear It - Swear By It" made me even more convinced that I had to begin multitasking with my oil and try out different ways to use it apart from the basic hair care routine that I was currently utilising coconut oil for.

For the past couple of years I've been using strictly extra virgin, cold pressed coconut oil which means it's 100% organic, nothing added, and has that all-natural fresh coconut heavenly beach scent.

For your hair:

I've frequently use Coconut Oil as part of my curl-care regime, including it in hot oil treatments or mixing with my deep conditioners, a previous post where I included coconut oil with my Shea Moisture deep conditioning treatment is here.

For your skin:

I found the benefits of using coconut oil as part of your skin-care regime to be amazing, especially in these Winter month's where everything is constantly dry. I started applying the oil to my entire body as soon as I came out of the shower and find my skin to be glowing, moisturised and really helps to combat the dry-ness this season brings. It can additionally be used as a great make-up remover and I try to rub a bit of coconut oil on my face before I sleep a few nights a week, I found I'm waking up to healthier and clearer skin!

Another essential use for coconut oil are home-made body, face or lip scrubs. It's so easy, you don't need to spend a lot of money and you know exactly what's in it.

I simply used a few tablespoons of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, you can also add a bit of vanilla extract, vitamin E oil, or any other essential oil. You can either blend or stir together like I did and it can be stored and kept in a container for a few weeks too.

Vita Coco Coconut Oil is now available on offer at Tesco for just £4!
