The Bali swing at Zen Hideaway
Bali's best kept secret or not so secret anymore thanks to Instagram. I was lucky enough to hunt down and try the infamous and dangerous swing at Zen Hideaway in Ubud, Bali! I've had loadsss of questions of how to find it and how to book the change to swing so of course I'm writing up a post about it.
Located just a short distance away from the glorified rice paddies and temples of Ubud, in a village called Bongkasa is this idyllic swing that soars over a dense jungle of palm trees and the Ayung River.
If you're staying in the Ubud area then you just NEED visit the swing for a once-in-a-lifetime exhilarating experience that you won't regret. Don't get me wrong, the first swing is SO scary - it took me about 10 minutes to let my feet off the floor, and I hate heights but once you're in the air you don't want to stop!
If this isn't already on your travel bucket list then make sure it is on there after you read this post because I'm sure my photos will make you want to be there right now!
There's another swing just down the road, the Bali Swing, which is the official and safer version. This swing isn't as high with not as much of an amazing view, you also must wear a harness for this one.
At Zen Hideaway the swing opening hours are between 12-2pm, as it's an Air BnB house too you are free to stay in the estate during those hours for as long as you like. You are asked to donate 300,000 IDR per person to the housekeeper on the property in exchange for an entry to the property and to swing. The swing is obviously not the safest thing on earth so you ride on it at your own risk and you are required to sign a waiver before you swing.
